Aditmari Upazila (LALMONIRHAT district) with an area of 195.03 sq km is bounded by Dinhata Thana of Kuchbihar district of India on the north, GANGACHARA upazilaon the south, LALMONIRHAT SADAR upazila on the east and KALIGANJ upazila on the west. The TISTA, Trimohoni and DHARLA rivers cause basinal flood every year. Rivers Sharnamati and Marashati are silted and almost dead. Main depression: Namurir Beel; silted depressions are Bungchuki Beel and Galandi Beel. Aditmari (Town) consists of three mouzas. It has an area of 15.98 sq. km. The town has a population of 15742, male 51.3%, female 48.7%; density of population is 985. Literacy rate among the town people is 20.1%.
Aditmari thana, now an upazila, was established in 1980. The upazila consists of 8 union parishads, 58 mouzas, 106 villages and 3 enclaves.
