Kakina Jaminder Bangsha and Rajbaree

Kakina is the name of a place of Kaligong Upazila about 22 km far away from the district headquarter. Its old name was kakinia. It was under Cooch Behar state/Kingdom in sixteenth century. Kakinia was a Chakla or Pargana during Medna Narayan period and Indrani Chakarbartee was a Chaklader. Then Ramnarayan was appointed as Chowdhury in 1687 AD. The area of his Pargana was ruled by this Jaminder for about 200 years constantly. Mohendra Ranjan Ray obtained responsibility power in 1909 AD. Kakina Jaminder fall down during his regime and a large area was auctioned. Now it is almost ruined. A big library and Museum of king family was also ruined. It is known for its main building of Mohima Ranjan Memorial high school and the traditional museum of Raj family.
